BUSTYA Help
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about how BUSTYA analyses, compares and monitors supported Australian household bills.
What is BUSTYA?
BUSTYA is an Australian household bill analysis and comparison service. Upload a supported bill and BUSTYA helps break down the charges, usage and other bill information into plain English, then uses genuine bill history to make useful comparisons as your history grows.
How does BUSTYA keep my data safe?
We don't require your name or any of your identifying personal information. We only retain bill data needed to analyse, compare and monitor your bills. Uploaded bills can contain personal information, so BUSTYA uses secure account and storage systems while processing supported bills. We minimise the information we retain and only keep what BUSTYA needs to provide its bill analysis, comparison and monitoring features. See our Privacy Policy for more information about how your information is handled.
What bills can BUSTYA analyse?
BUSTYA currently supports electricity, gas, internet, phone, household insurance, water, council rates and body corporate bills. Gas support includes mains natural gas, LPG bottle exchange, LPG bulk/on-site refill and metered LPG. Electricity, gas, internet and phone can include market checks where enough comparable information and supported market data are available. Water, council rates and body corporate are monitoring services that analyse your bill history and highlight changes; they do not search for alternative providers.
Is my first bill really free?
Yes. Your first bill analysis is free, so you can try BUSTYA before deciding whether to subscribe.
Can I forward bills to BUSTYA by email?
Yes. Bill forwarding by email is a subscriber feature that becomes available after your free first bill has been used and your subscription is active. BUSTYA provides a private forwarding address for your account. Forwarded PDF bills are the primary supported email format and are securely routed into your BUSTYA bill-analysis workflow. Keep your private forwarding address confidential.
Do I need a password?
No. BUSTYA uses secure email sign-in, so you do not need to create or remember a password.
How does BUSTYA analyse my bill?
BUSTYA reads supported bill information such as the provider, billing period, charges, usage and relevant plan or service details. It then presents useful information in a BUSTYA report. Automated analysis can make mistakes, so important details should always be checked against your original bill or provider.
Why should I upload more than one bill?
A single bill gives BUSTYA something to analyse. As you add genuine, comparable billing periods, BUSTYA can build a clearer picture of how your bills are changing over time.
When does BUSTYA compare my bills?
Once BUSTYA has two genuine comparable bills for the same bill type and provider, it can compare those billing periods and highlight meaningful changes.
When does BUSTYA look for better deals?
BUSTYA starts recommendation checks when there is enough genuine comparable history. For supported bill types, this generally means at least three qualifying bills. Recommendations also depend on having enough information to make a useful comparison.
Does BUSTYA automatically change my provider?
No. BUSTYA does not automatically switch your provider or plan. It can highlight information and potential alternatives, but you remain in control of any decision or change.
Can BUSTYA guarantee I will save money?
No. BUSTYA can identify changes, potential savings opportunities and relevant alternatives when enough information is available, but it cannot guarantee that a particular option will save you money. Provider prices, eligibility and circumstances can change.
Does BUSTYA work with electricity bills throughout Australia?
BUSTYA is designed for Australian bills. Electricity markets and provider choice vary by location, so BUSTYA takes the available information into account. In some areas there may be limited or no choice of electricity retailer.
How does BUSTYA analyse gas bills?
BUSTYA automatically identifies supported gas documents and determines whether they relate to mains natural gas, LPG bottle exchange, LPG bulk or on-site refill, or metered LPG. It keeps those supply models separate, compares only like-for-like history and uses delivery or refill dates for LPG event invoices where appropriate. After enough qualifying history, BUSTYA can perform supported postcode-aware market checks for mains gas and show verified same-model LPG supplier options. Postcode filtering does not guarantee that a particular property is serviceable, and BUSTYA will not guess when market data is incomplete.
How does BUSTYA analyse internet bills?
BUSTYA can identify recurring internet plan charges and relevant service information from supported bills. As your history grows, it can compare genuine billing periods and, where enough information is available, assess comparable alternatives.
How does BUSTYA analyse phone bills?
BUSTYA can separate supported phone plan and device-related charges and track changes across genuine comparable bills. Where the bill provides suitable information, BUSTYA may also highlight things such as device repayments approaching completion.
What does BUSTYA check on household insurance?
BUSTYA can analyse supported policy and renewal documents for Car, Motorcycle, Boat, Personal Water Craft (including jet skis), Caravan/Camper Trailer, House, Contents, Pet and Health insurance. It shows document-supported details such as premiums, policy periods, cover, insured values or benefit limits, excesses and material limits or changes. BUSTYA does not guess missing policy details or provide personalised insurance advice.
How will BUSTYA match insurance renewals without using sensitive identifiers?
BUSTYA uses privacy-safe, non-personal policy-subject details where enough information is available. It will not use customer names, street addresses, policy or account numbers, VIN/chassis numbers, hull/HIN or marine serial numbers, full registrations, microchip numbers, Medicare details or medical information as the policy-history identity. For Car insurance, only the final four alphanumeric registration characters may be retained as an additional vehicle discriminator. If BUSTYA cannot establish a safe match, it will keep the history separate rather than guess.
What identifiers can BUSTYA read but deliberately not keep for insurance matching?
An insurance document may contain identifiers that help the insurer administer the policy, but BUSTYA does not need them to build renewal history. BUSTYA is designed to remove or avoid retaining customer names, street addresses, policy and account numbers, VIN and chassis numbers, engine numbers or serials, boat Hull Identification Numbers (HINs), full vehicle or marine registrations, pet microchip numbers, Medicare numbers, health membership numbers and driver licence numbers in its insurance matching evidence. A Car or Motorcycle policy may retain only the final four alphanumeric registration characters as an optional extra discriminator. If the remaining privacy-safe facts are not enough to identify the same insured risk confidently, BUSTYA keeps the policy histories separate.
Does BUSTYA cover motorbikes, boats, jet skis and caravans?
BUSTYA supports Motorcycle, Boat, Personal Water Craft such as jet skis, and Caravan/Camper Trailer insurance as separate policy types. It uses safe document-supported characteristics to keep renewal histories separate and does not rely on VIN/chassis, hull/HIN, engine/serial, full registration, owner or address details as the policy-history identity.
What does comparable mean for insurance?
Comparable does not mean identical or suitable for you. BUSTYA will only describe insurance policies as broadly comparable when enough document-supported core cover information agrees. A lower premium alone is not enough. Material differences in cover, excesses, insured values or benefits, limits, waiting periods, restrictions and exclusions can prevent a broad comparison.
How will BUSTYA handle Health Insurance?
Health Insurance comparisons require stronger evidence than matching a tier name. BUSTYA considers document-supported Hospital or Extras structure, tier or cover description, excess, benefit limits and available information about waiting periods, restrictions and exclusions. A Silver, Gold or other tier label by itself does not establish equivalent cover. Where relevant, customers should check the insurer's current Private Health Information Statement and policy information.
How does Water monitoring work?
Your first supported water bill establishes a baseline. From the second comparable bill onward, BUSTYA can compare charges and stated usage, highlight meaningful increases and show bill-supported components that changed. BUSTYA uses a rolling comparison window of up to six comparable bills for the same service or property stream.
How does Council Rates monitoring work?
BUSTYA analyses supported council rates notices and tracks document-supported rates, levies and charges across comparable periods. The first notice establishes a baseline; later notices can be compared for increases and unusual changes using a rolling window of up to six comparable notices.
How does Body Corporate monitoring work?
BUSTYA analyses supported body corporate or strata levy notices and can track document-supported administrative, sinking or capital works, insurance, special and other levies where they appear. Later comparable notices are checked against your own history for changes and unusual increases.
Does BUSTYA search for a cheaper Water, Council Rates or Body Corporate provider?
No. Water, council rates and body corporate are monitoring and alerting services. BUSTYA analyses your own bill history and highlights changes; it does not search for or recommend alternative providers for these services.
Is my bill uploaded securely?
BUSTYA uses secure account and storage systems to process supported bills. Because an uploaded bill may contain personal information, you should review our Privacy Policy for details about how information is handled. Read our Privacy Policy.
What happens to my uploaded bills?
Uploaded bills are associated with your BUSTYA account so BUSTYA can provide analysis and build useful bill history. You can delete bills from your account. See our Privacy Policy for more information about handling and retention of personal information.
Does BUSTYA use AI?
Yes. BUSTYA uses automated and AI-assisted systems as part of bill analysis. These systems can make mistakes, which is why BUSTYA presents its analysis as helpful information rather than a replacement for checking your original bill or contacting your provider.
How much does BUSTYA cost?
Your first bill analysis is free. Current subscription options and pricing are shown in BUSTYA when you choose to subscribe.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. For details about subscriptions, cancellation and refunds, please read our Subscription & Refunds policy. Subscription & Refunds.
How do I contact BUSTYA?
You can contact BUSTYA at support@bustya.com.au. Email BUSTYA.

BUSTYA is an Australian business, owned and operated in Queensland.
